Happy Anniversary!
It’s hard to believe it has been three years since we opened our doors. We have been so very pleased with the response from our customers that come visit us from near & far.
We often get asked “why open a bookstore when there are e-books and Amazon?” We just know how much better it is to hold a book in your hands, smell the “new book smell”, read the synopsis, flip through the pages & know you have to read this book!
E-books are a way to read and Amazon is a way to buy, but a real book from a real bookstore filled with other people who love to read is an experience. An experience that brings curiosity, discovery, a chuckle and perhaps raised eyebrow, as in “really, I never thought about it like that.”
Books help us learn about the world around us. We all are trying to make sense of these busy stressful times and books provide insight and perspective in our lives. Books help us escape to places in the past and places in the future. Great stories, great characters, great fun!
What has been the best part of opening The Well~Read Moose? It is hard to pick one best part, so how about three:
Seeing small children’s eyes get big while they are having a story read to them. Even better, when they know the story so well they correct you when you miss a word – and they aren’t even readers yet!
Welcoming all sorts of groups of friends to meet in our Café and Bookclub Corner. We wanted a café with fresh snacks & treats, regional wines & local beers and ciders. A place for folks to meet and be able to hear each other across the table. A place to sit and talk about books, current issues, or whatever comes up while taking some time away from the daily hustle and bustle of our lives.
Sharing great books with people who love books!! Truly, what could be better? We even get great book ideas from customer special orders and often add them to our shelves. Ordering in new books that we hope our customers will love as much as we do. It is quite special and fun.
Three years, countless memories, new friends, old friends, readers young and young at heart. Thank you for being a part of our bookstore & café. We are so glad we brought The Well~Read Moose to Coeur d’Alene Idaho!!
